Seattle Storm Star Breanna Stewart Gets Engaged to Fellow WNBA Player Marta Xargay

After winning her second WNBA championship with the Seattle Storm last season, star forward Breanna Stewart is adding another ring to her collection.

Stewart proposed to her girlfriend, Phoenix Mercury guard Marta Xargay, at Papago Park in Phoenix on Sunday afternoon.

Stewart, 26, has already accrued quite the WNBA resume since she was drafted No. 1 overall by the Storm back in 2016. The native of Syracuse, NY, has led Seattle to two championships, including this past season in the “Wubble”. She also was named league MVP in 2018.

Xargay, 30, last played for the Mercury in 2016, one of her two seasons with the team. The Spaniard is back in training camp with Phoenix ahead of the 2021 season for the first time since. She also posted a picture of the proposal on her Instagram.

Fellow WNBA superstars Sue Bird and Candace Parker were seen in the comments on both posts offering congratulations. The Seattle Storm team Twitter account also shared the news, with a nod to their 2020 championship included:
