Bills Coach Sean McDermott Speaks On Cole Beasley’s COVID Rants

While the COVID vaccine has been a contentious topic across the country, it has been magnified in the world of sports due to the many different personalities and backgrounds of professional athletes. Buffalo Bills receiver Cole Beasley was one of the more outspoken athletes when it came to deciding not to take the COVID vaccine, while also speaking out against any restrictions put in place.

In particular, Beasley was fed up with how the NFLPA allowed the league to place restrictions for players who opted against the vaccine.

“The players association is a joke. Call it something different. It’s not for the players,” Cole Beasley wrote on Twitter last month. “Everyone gives me the 98 percent of people who are vaccinated don’t get covid again. The odds of me getting in the NFL and playing for 10 years are lower than that and I’m here. … So what are we really talking about? I understand completely why the NFL is doing this. It gives them back the freedom to make the most money as possible again if everyone is vaccinated. But will anyone fight for the players or nah?”

Prior to Training Camp, Bills head coach Sean McDermott was asked on the comments Cole Beasley was making all offseason.

“Certainly respect Cole’s opinion. I think that’s where we are as a world. Got a lot of different people having a lot of different opinions. The best thing we can do is respect each other’s positions,” McDermott said via Rochester First.

While social media certainly had a negative reaction to Cole Beasley’s COVID vaccine comments, Sean McDermott is confident that no issues will trickle into his locker room.

“I trust the players in a our locker room that they’re going to make good decisions and we’re gonna be where we need to be when the season rolls around.”

Cole Beasley is one of the better slot receivers in all of football. And he’s just one of many NFL players who will decide not to take the COVID vaccine.

Let’s hope that the NFL doesn’t have too many issues with players testing positive for the virus again this season.
