Ryan Leaf Blasts NFL After Vincent Jackson Found Dead: ‘The NFL just doesn’t f**king care’

Former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf was extremely disturbed after hearing the news of Vincent Jackson being found dead in his hotel room. Jackson was just 38-years-old.

While the details surrounding Jackson’s death have not been released, Ryan Leaf is chalking it up to a mental health issue. He also thinks the NFL is to blame for not caring about their athletes’ well-being off the field.

“My NFL brothers continue to die and nobody’s doing a goddamn thing about it,” Leaf said via TMZ.

Ryan Leaf posted an emotional video after Vincent Jackson was found dead. While he doesn’t say Jackson’s name in the video, it’s hard to imagine that the former receiver’s death wasn’t the reason for Leaf’s rant.

“The NFL just doesn’t f**king care,” Leaf said. “They don’t care. They’ll write condolences letters and s**t like that but if they were invested, they’d actually put some money behind the NFL Legends Community and into the mental health/substance abuse side of it.”

“Once you’re bad for the brand, the shield, they can give two s**ts.”

Ryan Leaf would go on to admit that he’s been dealing with “survivor’s guilt” after watching how many NFL players have lost their lives due to mental health problems.

“I don’t know what the hell to do,” Leaf  said. “They [the NFL] don’t get how precious life is and then I have this f**king survivor’s guilt! A ton of it!”

Leaf then ended his video by urging fans and anyone watching to “be a part of the solution.”

Good for Ryan Leaf to speak out on something he’s clearly distraught about. I’m not sure what the NFL can do to ensure that players are better taken care of after retirement, but I know doing nothing will lead to more of the same types of tragedies in the future.

Let’s just hope that resources can go to the right programs that will help anyone who needs it. We certainly don’t need another Vincent Jackson situation in the future. Enough is enough.
