Rutgers Wide Receiver Carnell Davis Knocked Unconscious in New Jersey Street Fight

Rutgers freshman wide receiver Carnell Davis is learning just how hard college can be. The first year player got knocked out cold in a street fight that took place in the gritty streets of Jersey. The video of the fight hit the internet on Tuesday. It appears the confrontation started when someone talked about his mother.

Apparently the fight landed Davis in the hospital, but according to the school, he’s now home with his family recovering from the blow to the head.

Via 247Sports:

“Apparently there were some words exchanged between Carnell and some other older guy,” Ford said in the post, which 247Sports has edited here for clarity due to typos. “The guy provoked Carnell by saying sexual harassment things to Carnell about his mom. Carnell obviously questioned him on it. The guy initiated the first move hands on with a shove. Carnell responded by defending himself with hands up. The guy throws one punch and knocks Carnell flat out, smashing his head on the pavement. He ended up in the hospital, in a coma, last night with a fractured skull and bleeding of the brain.”

Street fights never end well, and this one didn’t end very well for the freshman.

Hopefully he can recover quickly, and next time don’t take the bait when someone talks crap about your mom.
