Pete Carroll had the opportunity to put the Russell Wilson trade rumors to bed, but instead the longtime head coach lit a fire on all of it.
When asked about the trade rumors surrounding the future Hall of Fame quarterback, Carroll offered a rather roundabout answer.
“At this time of year, there’s conversations about everybody, and it’s commonplace for us to have conversations with teams about all of the players, particularly marquee players,” Carroll said via NFL.Com. “That’s not changed. It’s been the same every year. It’s the same.”

Pete Carroll would then say that GM John Schneiders’ answer to the calls is that they’re not currently shopping the quarterback.
Instead of just being up front and saying, “we aren’t trading Russ”, Carroll opted to defer to the GM. Normally, this wouldn’t be a red flag at all. But given the history between Carroll and Wilson, fans may be a little worried.
Last offseason, it was reported that Russell Wilson felt Pete Carroll had too much say in the organization, and was hoping to have more of a voice with the front office.
I’d still expect Wilson to be in Seattle come next season. But it’s hard not to realize that things are looking a little sketchy over there.
