One Sports Writer Believes The Patriots Could Actually Trade Bill Belichick

Would the Patriot trading Bill Belichick to another team be as batshit crazy as it sounds? One sports writer doesn’t think so.

Longtime writer and current Football Morning In America analyst Peter King weighed in on the possibility of the Patriots shopping Belichick.

“I don’t think it’s a dumb idea,” King suggests. “Like, probably right now, you would think if you traded Bill Belichick you should get two 1s, you think that’s about right,” King said. “Especially not really knowing how much longer Bill is going to coach, he’s getting up there in years and you don’t really know how much longer he’s going to coach, so are you going to trade two 1s for a guy who might only coach for four years? I think it’s an interesting thing. I don’t think it’s something you should dismiss out of hand.”

Is this really where we are for the New England Patriots? Is this necessary? I don’t think so. I’m kind of with Peter King on one sentiment, though. If trading Bill Belichick could land you Trevor Lawrence, maybe you do it. Lawrence appears to be a once in a lifetime type of talent, and New England will need a quarterback. I don’t think Cam Newton has a very long future in Boston. In this wild scenario, Josh McDaniels would probably take over as head coach, and I actually think he’d be more than qualified for the gig.

With all that being said, I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say Bill Belichick will not be traded.
