New Chicago Bulls Head Coach Billy Donovan Isn’t Happy With Preseason Loss ‘We Got Our A** Kicked In’

The Chicago Bulls are in the midst of a transition period, and Billy Donovan has arrived in Chicago to help with the process. Donovan has a strong history in player development, and Chicago is hoping that he can get the most out of Zach Lavine, Coby White, Wendell Carter, etc. However, these things take time, and that was prevalent tonight when the Bulls looked out of sorts against the Rockets in their first preseason game.

While many would chalk this one up to rust, or say that the first preseason game really means nothing, Billy Donovan wasn’t as forgiving.

Here was Donovan’s full quote on losing by 21 to the Rockets.

Get in Some Sideaction:

“We got our ass kicked in, in a lot of ways which was good,’ Donovan said in his postgame presser. “But I think it also gives us a point of reference from the standpoint of things that we’ve got to focus on and where we have to get better.”

Honestly, this should be a breath of fresh air for Bulls fans. Under Fred Hoiberg and Jim Boylen, you never really knew what you were going to get out of the post game presser. Now, you know that you have a guy with a history of winning, and he knows what he wants out of his young group. He didn’t get the best effort out of his squad tonight, but maybe that’s part of the process in Chicago. Maybe these guys need a guy like Billy Donovan to show them how they’re failing, instead of just expecting them to be better.

The Billy Donovan era has officially begun in Chicago, and it’ll be very intriguing to see what it leads to.
