NBA Fans Are Completely Disappointed With This Year’s Dunk Contest

The dunk contest this year had an odd feel to it, and it was just as boring as many people predicted. The lackluster field of Obi Toppin, Anfernee Simmons, and Cassius Stanley failed to put on a show that most fans were hoping for. Because of COVID, the contest was held at half time of the All-Star game, instead of being a headliner during the normal Saturday festivities of a typical All-Star weekend.

Simmons ended up winning the contest with some decent (at best) dunks.

The biggest takeaway from the event was just how uneventful it was. Fans flocked to social media to share their disappointment with dunk contest.

I mean, congrats to Anfernee Simmons and all, but can we please have some of the best dunkers in the NBA actually participate in the dunk contest? If we continue to have B-listers compete in the event, the reality is that we’ll continue to be disappointed.

Unfortunately, no matter who participates, we will all likely be watching the dunk contest again next year. It can’t be any worse, right?
