Naomi Osaka Makes A Statement With Her Mask At The US Open Tennis Tournament

Rising Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka wore a Breonna Taylor mask on Monday for her first match of the US Open. Osaka has made it clear that she has more tributes on the horizon. The 22-year-old star has been very outspoken about social justice issues of late. She even “boycotted” a match at a different tournament last week in the light of the Jacob Blake shooting. If you haven’t been paying attention to Naomi Osaka, on or off the tennis court, now is the time to start.

Osaka is personally one of my favorite current tennis players. It helps that she is absolutely gorgeous, but she is also just a phenomenal player. Her strides toward social justice make her all the more likable in my opinion. “I’m aware that tennis is watched all over the world, and maybe there is someone that doesn’t know Breonna Taylor’s story,” Osaka said. Say her name. The news about Jacob Blake shook the world, but that does not mean it is time to forget about Breonna Taylor. It is excellent to see a female athlete like Osaka pushing for justice for Breonna Taylor. The WNBA has also been very active.

Osaka admits that she is somewhat shy, but she is a very articulate speaker. I can’t wait to see what she does in the US Open Tennis tournament and how she continues to push for social justice. I will say it again: if you have not been following Osaka on or off the tennis court, it is time to start.
