Mysterious Light in Center Field During Astros Red Sox Game Explained

Did you see the Center Field Light last night?

Facilities staff worked on something on the center field wall that attracted the attention of the umpires during the sixth inning in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series. That light was something that made people think twice, considering the Astros history of cheating.

Apparently it was some reflective tape:

“I know that Alex Cora had said something about the light out in center, and then he came over to me and said it really wasn’t a light,” Baker said after the Astros’ 9-1 win. “It wasn’t in anybody’s eyes or point of vision or distraction. It was some reflective tape that somebody had put out there. It looked like a light shining off the lights, but I didn’t really see it. I didn’t have the angle to see it.”

But there’s still people trying to figure out what the light really was:

Hey, I know the managers were talking about a piece of tape on the wall. But the broadcast showed an actual light behind a screen. Has anyone asked or looked into that? I'm sure right after the game the managers had not seen the broadcast.

It seems as though Fox was wrong about that light and that’s not what the umpires and managers were talking about at all. Still no explanation for it yet, though.
