MLB Umpire Explains Why it Appeared He Ejected the Entire Orioles’ Grounds Crew

You really never know what’s going to happen during a sporting event. During last night’s game between the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees, MLB umpire Tim Timmons “ejected” the Orioles’ grounds crew from the field in the top of the ninth inning. The grounds crew was hiding behind the tarp, waiting to cover the field if rain began to fall.

You can see the ejection below:

Shortly after the Orioles-Yankees game finished, Timmons explained what actually happened.

He says he didn’t eject them like it appeared.

“I didn’t ‘eject’ the grounds crew,” Timmons said in a text to The Associated Press, via ESPN. “I just didn’t want all of them behind the tarp, especially with the infield in.”

Much better story if he actually did eject the entire grounds crew.
