The sale broke a previous record for a Jordan jersey when a game-worn Chicago Bulls jersey from the 1986-87 season sold for $480,000.
The North Carolina jersey was obtained back in 1983, when equipment managers from Stanford and North Carolina swapped jerseys of players after a game during the Stanford Invitational tournament at Maples Pavilion. The jersey first sold at auction in 1999 for $63,500. The jersey is one of a kind and is photo matched for authenticity. It is the only known Michael Jordan game-worn North Carolina jersey currently out in the memorabilia world.
