Matt Nagy Gets Blasted By Former Player Over Decision To Start Andy Dalton Over Justin Fields

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy has not been a very popular guy amongst the fan base in recent years. And his latest decision isn’t going to help the matter.

Despite a lackluster preseason from Andy Dalton, Nagy has maintained that he will be the team’s starting quarterback over Justin Fields when the season rolls around.

“The stock for us in Andy is going to see what he does for us during the season,” Matt Nagy said recently. “We have to see what can Andy do during the season with this team and with these guys. That has been our plan this whole entire time. At the same point in time we also need to evaluate and see where Justin is at and what he can do, and again he’s doing everything that we are asking him to do. He’s doing great. So I think it’s a good situation for us, and I understand, I truly understand the — I don’t know what the word — for people to want to see more of Justin, I get that. But we also understand where we’re at and what the true plan is.

Not only is Matt Nagy’s decision an unpopular one in Chicago. But the media and former players have also been vocal about how Nagy seems to be botching the whole Dalton/Fields thing.

Even Matt Nagy’s former all-pro offensive lineman during his Chiefs days, Mitchell Schwartz, has flocked to social media to bash his former OC on the decision to start Andy Dalton.

With the Bears offensive line decimated, and Mitchell Schwartz being a free agent, many were tying him to the bears for a reunion with Matt Nagy.

But it appears that Schwartz has no interest in playing for Nagy again, and isn’t holding back when declaring that he’s badly screwing up with the decision to keep Justin Fields on the bench.

If this year goes south for Matt Nagy, his days in Chicago may be numbered.
