Mark Cuban Pumped Up About Jason Kidd Hire: ‘He’s Going To Be Great For Luka’

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was being criticized earlier in the offseason after reports started to surface that Luka Doncic was upset following the firing of longtime general manager Donnie Nelson.

After Nelson and head coach Rick Carlisle were let go, Cuban had his work cut out for him. He had to fill their shoes with people who would work well with Doncic, while also continuing to build quality pieces around the young star.

On Friday, it was confirmed that Mark Cuban and the Mavs were hiring former Dallas Maverick Jason Kidd to be their next head coach.

TMZ Sports caught up with Mark Cuban shortly after the news broke, and he talked about how excited he was to see Jason Kidd work with Luka Doncic.

“I’m excited about it, obviously,” Mark Cuban said. “J. Kidd is going to be great for us. He’s going to be great for Luka, for the organization. I’m really excited.”

Obviously, Mark Cuban already has a rapport with Jason Kidd. The former point guard played on the Mavs for four seasons, and was an integral part of the championship team in 2011.

Cuban also shared his optimism that the team will be able to add more star players to help make the team contenders in the coming years.

“We’ve got the talent,” Mark Cuban added. “I think we’ll get better talent. We’ll keep on getting better. Luka will keep on getting better. And, I think Jason will help Luka and the team get better.”
