Outpouring Of Fans Aren’t Convinced Bryce Harper Was Deserving Of The MVP

Despite missing the playoffs following a mid-season collapse by the Phillies, superstar Bryce Harper was named the National League MVP award winner on Thursday night.

Even though nobody is doubting that Bryce Harper had a hell of a year, fans still took to social media to air their grievances with an MVP being named from a non-playoff team.

Despite his team fizzling off in the latter stages of the season, Bryce Harper was still a bright spot in the lineup.

On the year, the slugging right fielder slashed .309/.429/.615. He also hit 35 home runs to go along with 84 RBIs on the year.

Sure, we can debate back and forth who should have been the MVP. But if you’re looking solely at playoff teams, it’s kind of slim Pickens. The runner-up to Harper was Washington’s Juan Soto, and I don’t think anyone was expecting Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford to come home with the hardware.

I agree with the notion that team success should factor into the MVP. But this year, it was simply too hard to vote against Bryce Harper.
