Lauri Markkanen Wants Out Of Chicago, Seeks ‘Fresh Start’

Even after offering a qualifying offer, the Chicago Bulls were shopping around former first-round pick Lauri Markkanen as a potential sign-and-trade candidate.

The Bulls thought they had a deal in place with the Spurs when they were acquiring DeMar DeRozan, but Markkanen sought more money than San Antonio was willing to give.

Lauri Markkanen might be asking for too much money from potential suitors, but that doesn’t mean he’s willing to accept the Bulls’ offer.

Markkanen recently revealed to a Finnish reporter that he wants out of Chicago, and will look to seek a ‘fresh start’ with another squad.

Despite remaining on the Bulls roster, Lauri Markkanen claims he has “offers from several different teams.”

“I want a fresh start to my NBA career somewhere else,” he added via Bleacher Report.

With the Bulls new additions this offseason, it appears that Lauri Markkanen will be the odd man out.

Markkanen still believes he’s a starter in the NBA, and that will likely not be possible in Chicago with the way the Bulls are currently constructed.

A ‘fresh start’ is probably a good idea for both Lauri Markkanen and the Chicago Bulls.
