Lane Kiffin has had a lot of stops throughout his well-documented career as a football coach.
When he was trying to get his name back in good standing following unimpressive stints as the head coach of the Raiders, Tennessee, and USC, Lane Kiffin joined Nick Saban as his offensive coordinator in 2014. Thinking of it as a “rehab” opportunity, Kiffin thrived under Saban, and would go on to coach FAU, and now Ole Miss.

“It was perfect,” Lane Kiffin told CBS Sports of his time under Saban. “There wouldn’t have been a better job in the NFL. I say [it’s] the ‘rehab’ stamp. You go there, spend some time, all the sudden you can coach again.”

Lane Kiffin now faces the tall task of competing with Nick Saban int the SEC every year. But Kiffin isn’t the only coach that Saban has taken back to prominence.
Nick Saban had Steve Sarkisian as his offensive coordinator after Kiffin, and the troubled ex-USC coach found his groove again with the Crimson Tide.
Now, Sarkisian is the head coach of the Texas Longhorns after leading a historic Alabama offense to a National Championship last season.
Perhaps one of the biggest measures of Saban’s greatness is being able to get the most out of everyone (coaches included) around him.
Lane Kiffin certainly knows he owes a debt of gratitude to Nick Saban for taking a chance on him.
