Kris Bryant Hilariously Left Candy In The Outfield For Kyle Schwarber During His Return To Wrigley Field

Monday night was an emotional evening for a lot of Cubs fans.

Jon Lester and Kyle Schwarber returned to Wrigley Field for the first time since signing with the Nationals in free agency. Both Lester and Schwarber were key reasons why the Cubs were able to end their long World Series drought in 2016.

Schwarber and Lester both received multiple standing ovations from the limited-capacity crowd at Wrigley, and caught up with some of their former teammates. In a hilarious move, Kris Bryant even dropped some candy in left field for Kyle Schwarber in-between innings.

Kyle Schwarber would go on to hit a two-run home run in his next at bat. After the game, Schwarber spoke on the subtle move by Bryant.

“I definitely ate a Twix out there on the field,” Schwarber said, per NBC Sports Chicago’s Tim Stebbins. “It led to a hit.”

Schwarber would go on to say that he might have to eat more candy for the next game now.

“I might have to eat a Twix [Tuesday],” Schwarber said of the blast.

While the candy move was fun, Kyle Schwarber will probably look back even more fondly on the ovation he received from the Cubs faithful during his first plate appearance.

Lester and Schwarber’s Nationals would go on to lose to the Cubs 7-3. But it was still a night to remember for two guys who will never be forgotten on the North Side of Chicago.
