It’s not quite an NBA roster, however, it is an enormous opportunity for the former all-star to showcase his talents. Isaiah Thomas, who turns 32 next week, claimed he finally feels healthy after going through injury-riddled campaigns following his career year with the Celtics in the 2016-17 season.
Thomas last played as a member of the Washington Wizards in the 2019-2020 season. He played 40 games in Washington, starting in 37 of them while turning in mild averages of 12.2 points and 3.7 assists. While healthy enough to take the court, his numbers were down and he didn’t have that all-star edge as he did in his campaign with the Celtics.
At his healthiest, Isaiah Thomas was a prolific scorer in the NBA. His peak scoring included averages of nearly 30 points per game. He also led the Boston Celtics to the No. 1 seed in the East that season. All while earning the nickname “King of the North” due to his ability to close in clutch positions.
It’s tough to make a comeback to the NBA after suffering serious injuries. Especially when you are an undersized guard like Isaiah Thomas. Hopefully, he is able to make a statement with Team USA and earn himself a spot on an NBA roster once again.
