If you tell me this isn’t pride, then I don’t know what else it is. I’m seated right here thinking of any other footballer past or present who was this big-mouthed, but I still can’t get around it.

Granted he might seem Benjamin Button; after all a year shy of 40 and still performing at the highest level, but he is not Messi or Ronaldo. He does not even have a Ballon d’or ffs! So what we are left with is a player who though gifted have rather taken it upon himself to exceptionally overhype himself. If care’s not taken, this guy might best be remembered for what he said or did off the pitch than on it. That would not look great then, if that’s the case.
