Is Urban Meyer Trolling Jim Harbaugh With His GM Hire?

Urban Meyer isn’t done making Jim Harbaugh look bad. After completely owning Harbaugh when Meyer’s Buckeyes routinely took care of his Michigan Wolverines year after year, Meyer has continued to walk all over the former rival.

Urban Meyer is the new head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and it looks like he has settled on who his general manager will be. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Jags are planning on giving the job to Trent Baalke.

The #Jaguars are expected to hire Trent Baalke as their GM, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. The top internal candidate, he stays to work with new coach Urban Meyer. The deal isn’t done and official, but it is slated to be soon.

Trent Baalke was the GM for the San Francisco 49ers when Jim Harbaugh was the coach there, and it was no secret the two didn’t get along. Baalke basically ran Jim Harbaugh out of town after the team went 8-8 in 2014, and he’s been coaching a mediocre Michigan team ever since.

So, everything has come full circle for Trent Baalke, and he’ll get a chance to be a general manager with Urban Meyer. Do I think there’s actually some sort of message to Harbaugh here? Probably not. But you’d think Jim Harbaugh must be shaking his head in Ann Harbor nonetheless.

I can’t imagine there are many people he hates more than Urban Meyer and Trent Baalke.
