NFL Insider Offers Update On The Rift Between Kyler Murray, Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray created a whole stir when he cleared everything team-related from his Instagram following the blowout loss to the Rams in the Wild Card Round.

Initially, we thought it might be nothing. But reports at the time indicated that there was some real animosity felt from Murray towards the Cardinals’ brass.

Now that the dust has settled, it appears that Kyler Murray and the Cardinals worked out whatever was going on in order to get back on the same page.

Per NFL.com’s Jane Slater:

“I’ve circled back with the Cardinals and this thing has buffed itself out,” Slater said. “In other words, everyone is on the same page and the goal here is to move forward. Now, he’s on the third year of his rookie contract and my understanding is that they’re working towards either exercising that fifth-year option or getting him a long-term deal like we saw with the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen.”

Kyler Murray started off the first half of the season looking like a real MVP candidate while the Cardinals were 10-2. But after some injuries and inconsistent play, Arizona sputtered down the stretch.

The QB finished the season with 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions to go along with 3,787 yards passing.

While the end result wasn’t what they wanted, the Cardinals have to realize that they have a bright young star in Kyler Murray. Perhaps it’s time to break the bank on the extension he clearly desires.
