Indians Pitcher Zac Plesac Got Hurt ‘Aggressively’ Taking His Shirt Off In The Locker Room

The Cleveland. Indians announced on Tuesday that pitcher Zac Plesac would be heading to the Injured List.

Plesac had a subpar outing on Sunday, and followed it up by fracturing his thumb with a freak injury in the locker room. According to manager Terry Francona, Plesac was ‘aggressively’ ripping off his undershirt in the Indians clubhouse, when the shirt got stuck on a chair, and somehow messed up his thumb.

“He was, I think, probably rather aggressively ripping off his shirt,” manager Terry Francona told media on Tuesday. “He called [athletic trainer] James Quinlan, and James called me. It was pretty swollen yesterday.”

Zach Plesac was pulled after just 3.2 innings on Sunday after allowing 3 earned runs against the Minnesota Twins.

The young, promising right-hander is now 4-3 on the season with a 4.14 ERA. The Indians are currently 1.5 games back of the White Sox in the AL Central.

If the Indians want any chance of catching the Sox, they’ll need Plesac and the rest of their starting rotation to carry a rather limited batting order.

Zach Plesac might want to be careful with managing his frustration in the future.
