High School Football Player Who Body Slammed Ref Has Been Punished

High school football player Emmanuel Duron screwed up, big time. After getting ejected from a high school football game, Duron charged onto the field and tackled a referee. Check out the video.

The ref had to be taken off the field in an ambulance. Duron was removed by police officers.

The Edinburg senior likely ruined his chance to play competitive sports ever again in his life. According to the El Paso Times, the University Interscholastic League executive committee voted to suspend Emmanuel Duron from competing in any high school sporting event for the remainder of the season.

Not only that, but because of Duron’s action all Edinburg sports will be under probation through the 2022-23 season. if another instance arises from Edinburg, they could face serious penalty.

This was harsh punishment for Emmanuel Duron, but I think it’s warranted. You simply cannot assault a ref, and Duron should feel lucky that he doesn’t have to spend an extended period of time in jail. It’s definitely one way to screw up your athletic career, but I hope this kid gets the help he clearly needs to ensure that he doesn’t act this way ever again. He clearly has some anger issues

Hopefully Emmanuel Duron doesn’t allow this act to define him for the rest of his life.
