Meyers Leonard, aka “The Hammer,” hasn’t been bored during quarantine, but his newest hobby is pretty unique. The Miami Heat big man teamed up with his dog for an innovative new war tactic. He’s calling it iguana warfare. If that’s not intriguing enough by itself, check out this clip.

Leonard streams Call of Duty on Twitch in his free time and he tweeted at them suggesting a new type of gameplay: Call of Duty: Iguana Warfare. I applaud Leonard for being innovative, but I’m not sure about the tactic. In his defense, it has to be hard to be sneaky when you’re 7-feet tall and 260 pounds. I must admit, that’s one good-looking and very well trained pup, but I doubt Call of Duty will introduce Leonard’s tactic to the gameplay. Iguana Warfare has a nice ring to it, but guerrilla has proven to be much more effective.
The Heat big man suffered an ankle injury that left him sidelined for the final 16 games before the NBA season had to take an intermission. Leonard has had the benefit of over three months to recover and is reportedly ready to return to play. “I’m feeling much, much better,” Leonard said. “Obviously, I had an injury there right before the season was suspended. And it was bad. I think most people were aware of that.” The hammer was previously the starting power forward, but the Heat’s additions of Jae Crowder and Andre Igoudala may reduce his role. Although, if this video is any indication of his shooting percentage, the Heat should give him the green light to let it fly.
The NBA season is poised to reboot on July 30 in Orlando at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. Leonard’s return is a definite plus for the Heat. Their schedule, on the other hand, poses more of a challenge. The Heat are in no danger of missing the postseason but face the toughest schedule in the remaining eight regular-season games.

Despite their schedule, I do like the Heat to make a strong push for the Finals out of the Eastern Conference. The Bucks galloped through the East, but the Heat are 2-0 against them this season. The Heat spoiled the home opener for the Bucks back in October. That game ended in an overtime thriller with a stellar performance from veteran point guard Goran Dragic. An Eastern Conference finals between Miami and Milwaukee would be quite the series. Luckily, we don’t have to wait that long to see them square off again. The Heat and the Bucks play on Thursday, Aug. 6 at 4 p.m. EST. Look for The Hammer to make a smash in his return to action.
