Gina Carano Gets Fired Amid Social Media Controversy

That’s a wrap. After trending all day with the hashtag Fire Gina Carano, it was only a matter of time before studio execs decided she’s not worth the headache. Gina took to social media, implying that being a Republican today is like being Jewish during the Holocaust. Another photo on Carano’s Instagram story featured a person with several masks covering their face and head with the caption: “Meanwhile in California.”

LucasFilm released a statement:

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Carano and her followers attempted to get the hashtag #weloveginacarano to trend, unfortunately for her, it didn’t have quite the same impact.

Carano retweeted the post below on her account.
