Ex-Falcons Coach Dan Quinn Has His Sights Set On Switching To College

Dan Quinn is already plotting his next move.

Quinn was fired by the Falcons earlier in the year after going 0-5 to start the season. Now, it appears that Quinn has had enough of the NFL, and wants to take his talents to college.

According to 247Sports, Quinn has reached out to Arizona to express his interest in their head coach opening.

Arizona fired coach Kevin Sumlin after the Wildcats got blown out by rival Arizona State.

Quinn started his coaching career in college, holding assistant positions with William & Mary, VMI and Hofstra. Quinn made the leap to the NFL in 2000, but he did work as Florida’s defensive coordinator for the 2011-2012 season.

Sideaction’s Latest:

If Quinn wants to move to college, he’ll likely get a shot with some team. He is a high-profile name, and he’s only a few years removed from a Super Bowl appearance. However, he’l have to be prepared, college is a whole different ball game. Recruiting is the biggest part of the job in college, and just because you’ve won in the NFL, doesn’t mean you can build up a college program. Just ask Lovie Smith, who was pretty successful as the head coach of the Chicago Bears, but failed miserably in his attempt to turn Illinois football into a winner.

We’ll see if Dan Quinn gets his shot in college, it could make for an interesting hire.
