Eli Manning Made Sure To Throw A Super Bowl Dig At Tom Brady During Retirement Video

Perhaps nobody had better success against Tom Brady in big games than Eli Manning.

Manning bested Brady in not one, but both, of his Super Bowl victories. And when Manning sent Brady a congratulatory video after the retirement news on Tuesday, he made sure to throw a little dig in there about the losses.

“Hey Tom, just want to congratulate on an unbelievable NFL career,” Eli Manning said in a video Tuesday posted to his Twitter account. “22 years, seven Super Bowls, multiple MVPs — really, no one did it better than you during your time. It was an honor just to watch you compete, watch you play, and to do it at such a high level for so long. In your 22nd year, you were playing as good as you ever were.

Eli Manning continued: “I watched you win a Super Bowl when I was in college. I got to watch you win a few when I was in the NFL, and I saw you win one when I was retired. That’s a pretty impressive career right there.”

At the very end of the clip, Manning took his shot at Tom Brady.

“Good luck in retirement, congratulations on an unbelievable career, and I appreciate your generosity in at least sharing a few of those Super Bowls with me,” he said.

Eli manning was referring to the two Super Bowls — where the Giants were able to defeat Tom Brady’s Pats in upset fashion.

In the 2007-08 season, it was the Giants who ended the Patriots’ bid to become the first undefeated NFL team since the 1972 Miami Dolphins, with the Giants beating a team that many consider the greatest of all-time.

Manning’s Giants also defeated the Patriots in the 2011-12 season.

No matter what Tom Brady decides to do in his retirement, it’s likely that he’ll have to continue to hear about the two times Eli Manning found a way to get the best of him.
