Dwayne Haskins Stripped as Team Captain After Strip Club Appearance

After celebrating his return to the field as a starter with a strip club appearance while failing to wear a mask, Washington quarterback Dwayne Haskins has been removed as team captain. Haskins was also fined $40,000.

This move lines up with the attitude the Washington Football Team has toward the former first round draft pick. After starting through the first four weeks, he was benched in favor of Kyle Allen. When Allen went down with a significant injury, instead of turning back to Haskins, the franchise went with Alex Smith. Smith suffered a potential career ending injury before grabbing the third-string quarterback spot in a heroic comeback effort.

Now with Smith and Allen both injured, Haskins got two more games under his belt. After the 20-15 loss to Seattle, Haskins treated himself to the strip club. His career record is 3-9.

The unprecedented part of losing the honor of team captain is his position. The only other franchises that don’t have its current starting quarterback as a team captain are the Miami Dolphins and the Los Angeles Chargers. Both Tagovailoa and Herbert are rookies who did not start Week 1. Five teams, Baltimore, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas and Denver, appoint weekly captains while Kansas City appoints captains for playoffs.

Head coach Ron Rivera still said that Haskins is the team’s immediate backup if Alex Smith can not play.

Haskins recorded 214 yards a game alongside five touchdowns against five interceptions for a passer rating of 77.7. His tenure in Washington has been rumored by multiple sources to be over after this season.
