Did A Hot Mic Just Announce That Big Ten Football Is Back?

Finally, we have a hot mic that picks up something good. After watching other conferences across college football play throughout the weekend, it appears that the Big Ten will reverse course and play football this season, after all.

This video shows University Of Nebraska President Ted Carter talking with a colleague and say, “we’re getting ready to announce the Huskers and Big Ten Football tonight.”

This is the news we needed today. After a weekend of football giving fans (such as myself) a sense of normalcy, let’s see if we can get back to an entire weekend of competitive football.

This news wouldn’t come as a complete shock, being as coaches and players around the Big Ten have been lobbying for their conference to change their original decision of postponing the Fall football season altogether.

However, this is not a 100% slam dunk. When Carter was asked to clarify his comments he said that he meant the talks were “moving in the right direction.” If Carter’s comments were truthful, this is a great day for football fans.

Growing up in the Midwest, Big Ten Football has always been a tradition for me. In my opinion, the Big Ten is the most competitive conference in college football, top to bottom. While there is no real evidence that the Big Ten season will be announced later tonight, there has been reports that some Big Ten Presidents were pushing for a start date around mid-October.

College football isn’t the same without the Big Ten. It isn’t the same without Ohio State running all over Harbaugh’s Michigan team, or a 9-7 game between Wisconsin and Iowa on a Saturday morning. We need Big Ten Football back. Let’s make this happen.
