Details Of The NBA’s Proposal For The Orlando Bubble Shows That Their Lives Should Still Be Way Cooler Than Ours

After some early concerns from players that the Orlando NBA bubble sounds like “incarceration”, as well as recent concerns from Kyrie Irving amongst other NBA players about a restart, details have come out about the NBA’s “Orlando campus”. Shams Charania unleashed a bevy of details from the NBA’s proposal, including some that ensure that, yes, NBA players’ lives will still safely be better than the rest of ours despite the adverse situation. Some of the highlights include:

Details on the amenities and entertainment

There’s a noted lack of strippers, a downer for James Harden, but it does seem like there’s a lot there to maintain quality of life.

An estimated itinerary for NBA players

The schedule seems much simpler without having to account for all of the travel and hotel time. Hopefully it includes generous time allotted for Corona-infused injury reports.

Breakdown of the arena setups

The Arena not yet having a sponsor is interesting. Might it be named The George Floyd Arena or something similar to aid players’ social justice concerns?

The estimated split of teams seems to show a bit of home court advantage

The Yacht Club must be the crappiest of the hotels. Sad day for regatta fans.

Either way, it seems like a sweet setup if the NBA comes through. I’m not sure if NBA players will feel quite as compelled to party as they might during a, say, All-Star Weekend wth a lot of special guests around. But it seems like an effort to maake this some sort of bonding experience for the players who’ll take part.

Now for the NBA to sort out the rest of the concerns players like Kyrie Irving and Avery Bradley have brought about. You may never be able to make Kyrie fully happy — ask the Celtics and Nets — but he and the players referred to as the Coalition raised some other non-accomodation based issues for the league to work through.
