Deshaun Watson Is Getting Interest From A Surprise Team

Deshaun Watson is still a Texan for now, but for how much longer remains to be the question. The franchise quarterback has grown frustrated with his front office as they have not allowed him to be involved in the team’s search for a new coach and GM. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that there’s a growing feeling that Watson has played his last game for the Texans. But if Deshaun Watson is traded, where will he go?

The Miami Dolphins are believed to be the frontrunner in the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes. However, the Jets are also being mentioned as a contender. Aside from those two obvious candidates, there may be a surprise team expressing interest in Deshaun Watson. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport named the Carolina Panthers a dark-horse contender on Monday morning.

Deshaun Watson finds himself in an interesting position as the franchise quarterback of the Texans. The 25-year-old has a no-trade clause in his contract he would have to waive should he want out. Fortunately, that means he has some control over his destination. In other words, if Watson wants out, then he can not only push for a trade but also give the Texans a list of teams that he’d be willing to play for.

Watson played his college football in the state of South Carolina. Should the Panthers continue to show interest, it would be exciting to see him play with a dynamic back like Christian McCaffrey. Where Deshaun Watson will land is up in the air at this point, but he certainly wants out of Houston.
