DeAndre Hopkins Photo Worth $5.7 Million in Exposure for Jordan Brand

Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins made one of the best catches of the NFL season on Sunday. A Hail Mary, winning the game as the clock ticked to nothing. Now the viral photo of Hopkins grabbing the ball over the outstretched hands of Buffalo Bills defenders has helped Jordan Brand get $5.7 million in media exposure from social media, TV and print, according to Sportico.

Another angle showed Hopkins’ Jordan Brand gloves overpowering their Adidas counterparts, making the future ad that will come from this play an even easier sell.

Odell Beckham made a more athletic but less impactful catch several years ago. Beckham’s catch earned at least $2.2 million in media exposure. Beckham is currently still signed with Nike but has failed to make a grab like that since.  Nike Football’s official Twitter account tweeted a photo of the New York Giants receiver with the caption “Drop jaws, catch everything else” and a link to the Vapor Jet 3.0, the gloves he was wearing during the play.

That’s why you don’t trade a superstar like DeAndre Hopkins. The Houston Texans are treading water in the NFL while Hopkins is flourishing with his new team. He’s one of the best in the game. Judging by what’s going on in the NBA trade market, Houston hasn’t learned their lesson.
