Civil Rights Group Calls For The Masters To Be Moved Out Of Georgia Due To Controversial Law

The main allure of The Masters golf tournament is that it’s played at beautiful Augusta National in Georgia. Every year, The Masters takes played at the same course, and it’s the only event in golf that can say that. But due to a new law, a group is calling for The Masters to switch it up.

After a highly controversial voting law was passed by Georgia legislation, many civil rights groups have called for all main sporting events to be moved out of Georgia. That would include The Masters in April.

“The PGA Tour and Masters Tournament have both made commitments to help diversify golf and address racial inequities in this country – and we expect them to not only speak out against Georgia’s new racist voter suppression law – but to also take action,” the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) said in a statement.

“To that end, the National Black Justice Coalition is calling on the PGA Tour and Masters Tournament to pull the upcoming championship event from the Augusta National Golf Course. Professional golfers should refuse to play in Georgia until the racist voter suppression law is repealed.”

While the law is extremely messed up, I highly doubt The Masters will ever move out of Augusta National. I wonder if the PGA will come out with a statement on the matter.
