Carlos Correa is now officially a free agent following many years as the shortstop for the Astros. And despite there fact that the Yankees appear to be players in this year’s shortstop market, it doesn’t look like there’s a fit with Correa in the Bronx.
When speaking about Derek Jeter recently, Correa went out of his way to focus how overrated he feels Jeter was defensively, saying #2 didn’t deserve any of his Gold Gloves.

It's what I despise most about the modern sports community. Fools believe they can just look up some numbers on FanGraphs, Baseball Savant, Baseball Reference, etc, and become know-it-alls.
Bottom line, the Yankees haven't sniffed #28 since Jeter left. All you need to know. https://t.co/MJagcYxRGV— Adam Grassani (@AGrassani6) November 15, 2021
Did Carlos Correa just decide he didn't want to be on the @Yankees by insulting the career of Derek Jeter?

Carlos Correa’s take on Derek Jeter isn’t necessarily an unpopular one.
While Jeter was considered one of the top shortstops in all of baseball during his time in New York, modern stats and analytics don’t back up the claim.
Nonetheless, Carlos Correa was probably wrong to call out a guy as widely respected as Derek Jeter. Especially when the Yankees could be one of a few teams who are willing to shell out big time for his services.
