Browns DE Myles Garrett Can Skullcrush Mason Rudolph With His Helmet 2,500 More Times Before Going Broke

The Browns had an underwhelming 2019 season, but it wasn’t without excitement. Former No. 1 overall pick and Pro Bowler Myles Garrett is preparing for his fourth season. The Browns made it very clear that keeping Garrett on their roster was a priority this offseason. They seem to be putting their money where their mouth is.

Myles Garrett is intimidating enough as it is, but this kind of bag will keep him from having to worry about getting fined by the No Fun League (NFL). That’s a scary thought. The man is an absolute monster. I’m sure you all remember this play that got Garrett suspended indefinitely and fined $50,000.

Garrett’s new contract, if finalized, would make him the highest-paid pass rusher (and defensive player) in the league, surpassing Khalil Mack. Garrett’s reinstatement and the potential new deal with the Browns have all of the #MasonStartedIt truthers running out of the closet like a pack of ostriches. I’ll be the first to admit the helmet strike was a pretty bad optic; it was uglier than some of Freddie Kitchens’ play calls. Having said that, it was the most exciting series of events in one of the ugliest Thursday Night Football games in my memory. I’m fairly young, but that’s still saying something. Had the game ended at the 59:52 minute mark, I wouldn’t have remembered a single thing from that game. So in a somewhat morbid way, the NFL has Garrett to thank for boosting the ratings on what was otherwise a trash game.

I’m not sure if I’m in the #MasonStartedIt camp, but let’s make one thing clear: Mason Rudolph has one of the most punchable faces in the NFL (Richie Incognito has entered the chat). I’m sure that wasn’t the first time he got his dome rocked. If the Browns DE locks up the rumored $125 mil, he could body bag Rudolph 2,500 more times before breaking his bank. Yikes. Although, the Browns will need to win more than their projected seven games to justify Garrett’s contract. Canning Kitchens and drafting Bama OT Jedrick Wills Jr. were both steps in the right direction. Baker Mayfield will have to be better, though.

I personally do not think the Browns will be much better this season (if there is one). I feel like it’s safe to say they won’t be dethroning the Ravens in the AFC North. A wild card spot is usually a smaller task in the AFC. However, it will still take at least nine wins. Garrett is an elite player, but if you ask me, the Browns will still suck. I’ve been wrong before, though. They will definitely want to keep Myles Garrett on the field. Regardless, the Browns still have several issues to address. In the case that they’re still trash, I’m giving Garrett the green light to crack some more skulls. I just don’t suggest he uses a helmet this time.
