Stan Bowman Releases Statement On Alleged Sexual Assault By Former Blackhawks Coach Brad Aldrich

The Chicago Blackhawks have been in the news since their season ended after reports have revealed an alleged cover up of sexual assault by former coach Brad Aldrich.

Aldrich was with the team during their 2010 Stanley Cup run and was quietly let go after the season. The Blackhawks allegedly knew about allegations that Aldrich was sexually harassing members of the team and failed to report anything to police.

Aldrich would go on to have similar allegations against him during stints with a high school hockey team, along with Miami University.

Chicago Blackhawks current president of hockey ops Stan Bowman was the general manager in 2010. And according to reports, he was well aware of the allegations against Brad Aldrich, and still allowed the man to work with other young men.

Bowman has been quiet on the topic all offseason, but released a statement on the matter on Thursday.

“I do not condone or tolerate harassment or assault of any type. The Blackhawks have engaged an outside legal firm to conduct an investigation…for now, I have to respect the litigation and pending review. I’m not going to be able to make any comments about that,”  Stan Bowman said prior to his press conference.

The Blackhawks were listed in the lawsuits by two anonymous former players, which would seem to indicate that we’ll find out how much Stan Bowman knew of Brad Aldrich’s actions in 2010.

Bowman’s statement today basically said nothing, but he didn’t exactly deny knowledge of the alleged abuse, either.

We’ll continue to track this troubling story for any new developments. Hopefully Brad Aldrich and any negligent person in a position of power is held accountable.
