Blake Bortles Has Funny Response to Learning He Made $47 Million During NFL Career: ‘Suck it Nerds’

Blake Bortles made out like a bandit.

In his eight seasons as a quarterback in the NFL, Blake Bortles’ estimated career earnings totaled around $47 million.   A few weeks ago NFL QB Blake Bortles decided to call it a career. The former Jacksonville quarterback hung up his cleats after playing eight seasons in the NFL. The No. 3 overall pick from the 2014 NFL Draft admitted he hadn’t informed anyone of his retirement decision until going on a Barstool podcast. “I didn’t tell anybody I retired. A couple of months ago, probably, just didn’t tell anyone. So, I guess you guys are kind of the first to hear it publicly, maybe?” Bortles said.

In a new interview with the Pardon My Take podcast, Bortles was asked if he had any idea how much money he brought in during his career. Bortles did not know the exact number but had  a hilarious response when he was told it was $47 million.

Via Barstool:

Mr. Cat: Do you know how much money you made in the NFL? It’s pretty cool.

Blake Bortles: Uh, no. I mean, I know, like, contractually what I made, but I didn’t get, like, the back half of my second contract here. And then taxes. Do you know the exact number?

Mr. Cat: It says 47 million. That’s fucking awesome.

Blake Bortles: Sounds right, man. That’s awesome. You know, just good enough to steal some money.

Mr. Commenter: How cool was that fifth year?

Mr. Cat: Yeah, that’s pretty fucking sweet. Like when you say it and you’re just like, “Oh yeah, I did make 47 million in like seven years of work.” That’s pretty fucking sweet!

Blake Bortles: That’s right, suck it, nerds!

Mr. Cat: That’s right, score one for the good guys. Love it, I fucking love it.

Bortles last appeared in a game back in 2019 when he was a backup for the Los Angeles Rams.

Playing football pays pretty well for some.
