Adrian Peterson Has A message For The Washington Football Team Ahead Of Sunday’s Game

The Washington Football Team parted ways with running back Adrian Peterson prior to the start of the 2020 NFL season. However, It wasn’t long before Peterson found a new job, signing with the Detroit Lions. The legendary running back suited up against his first team, the Minnesota Vikings, this Sunday. Now Peterson is set to square up against his most recent former teammates from The Washington Football Team. And he’s got a message for them.

“I would be lying to you if I told you that chip on my shoulder wasn’t there,” Peterson told Darren Haynes of WUSA9. “They will get to realize what they let go.”

Adrian Peterson’s time with The Washington Football team ended on quite the awkward note, according to him.

“It was an awkward situation,” Peterson said. “It was like bam, I was cut, just like that with no notice.”

He went on to cool the situation by adding, “It was a great journey and great opportunity,” Peterson said. “They allowed me to show that I can still play this game at a high level. I will always have a love for the DMV area. It was critical for my career. It’s a reason why I’m still playing in this league now at a high level.”

Peterson definitely has something to prove on Sunday if he wants his message to be heard. He is coming off of a lackluster performance against Minnesota with just 8 carries for 29 yards. If he wants to prove he can still play the game at a high level and that Washington made a mistake by cutting him, he will have to do much more than that.

It’s far from a marquee matchup with just five combined wins between Washington and Detroit. But Adrian Peterson has a chip on his shoulder, so The Washington Football Team could be in for a long day. Will AP prove to Washington, and the world, that he is still a premier RB in this league? I guess we will have to wait until Sunday to find out.
