Adam Schefter Reportedly Met With Major Sportsbook as ESPN Contract Almost Up

It sounds like Adam Schefter may already have one foot out of the door at ESPN.

Reports of Adam Schefter leaving for a huge payday have been swirling for months, as Schefter’s contract with the Mothership is almost up.

According to Sports Business Journal, Sportsbook PointsBet is considering adding ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter to their team.

With Schefter’s Social Media reach, and Sportsbooks looking to add new bettors, the gold rush is on for the books to acquire big names.

“NBC-affiliated PointsBet can be added to the list of gambling companies who are considering hiring ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter to report for their digital platforms. Sources told SBJ that the Australia-borne sports book has met with the Schefter in advance of his ESPN contract expiring this summer. PointsBet is not close to the highest level of sportsbooks in terms of brand awareness. But it makes for a potentially intriguing landing spot for Schefter. That’s because NFL media partner NBC Sports is an investor, which provides PointsBet exclusive integration into its “Football Night in America” pregame show and post-game coverage on Peacock. Those would be natural places for Schefter to continue on-air hits, giving him a prominent platform that already enjoys a high comfort level with the NFL, its teams and fans.”

Caesars recently hired former ESPN employees Kenny Mayne and Trey Wingo.

The playing field has changed, and ESPN and Fox Sports aren’t the only suitors these days. Legalized gambling is definitely changing the sports media landscape.
