5-Year-Old Girl Injured In Car Crash Involving Britt Reid Reportedly Wakes Up From Coma

The sports world has collectively held their breaths and sent out prayers after it was announced that Britt Reid, son of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, was involved in a car crash that left a 5-year-old girl in a coma.

The girl has since been identified as a girl named Ariel. A GoFundMe page was set up for Ariel, and fans have poured in over $485,000 in donations thus far. According to that page, “Ariel is awake” now.

While this is great news, it is still unclear what the condition of Ariel is at this time.

Britt Reid has been placed on leave by the Kansas City Chiefs, being as he was their outside linebackers coach. According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Britt Reid “was placed on leave with the Chiefs through the duration of his contract, which has since expired and he no longer is an employee with the club.”

Andy Reid spoke about the incident after losing Super Bowl LV.

“My heart goes out to all those who were involved in the accident, in particular the family with the little girl who’s fighting for her life,” Reid said after the Super Bowl via ESPN. “I can’t comment on it any more than what I am here. So the questions you have, I’m going to have to turn those down; but just from a human standpoint, my heart bleeds for everybody involved in that.”

Britt Reid reportedly admitted to having “two to three drinks” before the crash.
