The Best Footage From F1 Guanyu Zhou’s Massive Accident At British Grand Prix

The British Grand Prix took place Sunday at Silverstone in the United Kingdom, but it was forced to quickly red flag the race after a first turn collision almost left multiple drivers injured.

Alfa Romeo’s rookie driver Guanyu Zhou was involved in a massive accident after being bumped from behind which flipped his car over and sending it ferociously into the barricades.

Here are some of the best angles that we found from the wild accident.

Watching the live broadcast, replays were not even being played of the race start until Zhou was out of the car and safe. Zhou was pinned in his car for several minutes as rescue teams rushed to assist the driver.

A driver who was also involved in the accident, George Russell, immediately left his car to run and help.

This was the final look of the wreckage and where the car was trapped after being flung over the wall just in front of fans.

As the previous photos can prove, Zhou is lucky to have walked away from this crash without suffering a massive injury, or even losing his life. Many F1 commentators discussed that the Halo – the protective lead barring ring on the of the driver’s cockpit – saved Zhou’s life.

One can imagine that this is entirely true as his car flipped and could have easily killed him or left the driver paralyzed from the accident.

Zhou took to social media following the health checks to update everyone on his status and thank the Halo for saving him.

Williams’ racer Alex Albon was also involved in an accident in the early part of the race and posted a picture to his social media after being released from the hospital.

Somehow both of these drivers were left unharmed and should be back in the car next week in Austria.

After the hour delay, the race lived up to the hype with some incredible passes and manoeuvres especially in the late stages of the race. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz was able to take home his first ever Grand Prix race in thrilling fashion!
