Perhaps the most surprising anecdote of the Phoenix Suns’ playoff loss to the Mavericks was Chris Paul’s disappearing act.
After Game 2 of the series, Paul averaged just nine PPG while also proving to be a liability on the defensive side of the ball.
When the Suns lost in blowout fashion at home against the Mavs, fans were clearly fed up with Chris Paul. And outside the stadium, fans were seen burning CP3’s jersey.

After the game, Chris Paul maintained his confidence in the Suns’ future despite the lackluster finish to the season.
āYou play long enough and you donāt win, every time you lose, theyāre going to say it was your best chance,ā said Paul after the Sunsā 123-90 loss to the Dallas Mavericks in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals Sunday. āBut I think for me, us, itās weāll be right back next year. Iāll tell you that much.
āIām not retiring tomorrow, thank God. Hopefully, Iām healthy coming back. But Iām [going to] keep playing.ā
Chris Paul appears to be losing a step now. But he’s still one of the best point guards in the NBA. Perhaps now the Suns will know they have to get the veteran some more roster help prior to next season in order to reach their championship aspirations.
