Steve Kerr Goes On Impassioned Rant Against Lawmakers Following Texas Elementary School Shooting

The sports world is collectively chiming in following the tragic school shooting in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday that left 13 kids dead, and that includes Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.

Kerr has spoken out on politics in the past. And prior to Game 4 against the Mavericks, he went on a long rant against lawmakers who refuse to pass a background check law for people trying to purchase a firearm in our country.

“There’s 50 senators right now who refuse to vote on H.R.8, which is a background check rule that the House passed a couple of years. It’s been sitting there from two years. And there’s a reason they won’t vote on it. To hold onto power,” he said in part of his comments.

Joining Steve Kerr, LeBron James also spoke for “change” after the tragic news hit the web.

“There simply has to be change! HAS TO BE!!” James tweeted. “Praying to the heavens above to all with kids these days in schools.”

Steve Kerr’s comments have elicited another online debate between both the left and right sides of the political spectrum. But I think we can all agree on one premise: something needs to change to ensure our kids are safe at school in this country.
