Montrezl Harrell Faces Trafficking Charges After Being Found With An Absurd Amount Of Weed

Veteran Montrezl Harrell big man is set to become a free agent this offseason. But now, he has some bigger issues to deal with.

According to police reports, Harrell was busted with over three pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop in Kentucky earlier in the offseason.

Per the Charlotte Observer’s Rod Boone:

“Trooper Jesse Owens stated he “upon stop observed odor of marijuana” from the silver 2020 Honda Pilot that Harrell was driving, according to the citation. Harrell, Owens wrote in the report, “admitted to being in possession of marijuana and produced a small amount from his sweatpants.” During a subsequent search of the vehicle, which the report states Harrell claims was rented, “three pounds of marijuana in vacuum sealed bags” were found in a backpack in the back seat, according to the citation. He’s been charged with trafficking less than five pounds of marijuana.”

During last season with the Hornets, Montrezl Harrell had 11.4 points to go along with 4.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

The charge against the veteran is considered a Class D felony, which could bring a 1-5 year prison sentence and fine up to $10,000.

We’ll continue to monitor for any more updates on Montrezl Harrell.
