Dick Vitale Announces He’s Fully Cancer Free!

Dick Vital got some awesome health news today.

The longtime college basketball broadcaster announced on his Twitter page today that he is officially cancer-free after a long bout with the disease.

“Dr Rick Brown just notified me with my results of my major Pet Scan & told me news I wish EVERY cancer patient can hear,” Vitale shared. “He said ‘Dick u have gone from being in remission to being CANCER FREE!’ Thank u to ALL of YOU that have sent me [prayers].”

Back in April, Dicky V shared the video of him ringing the cancer bell after finishing his final treatment program.

“It was RING THE BELL TIME ! Yes it was a tough 7 months but it was super hearing Dr Brown @SMHCSsay that I have zero cancer currently .I was inspired daily by the famous words of my late buddy Jimmy V “Don’t Give up DON’T EVER GIVE UP!”

At this year’s ESPY Awards, Dick Vitale was honored as the recipient of the Jimmy V Award for perseverance.

“We are not go to stop, stop chasing the dream of raising dollars and your dream, he said during his speech. “Jimmy’s dream was to beat cancer. And we must do it.”

During his bout with cancer, Dick Vitale was constantly posting updates on social media and sharing the same positive voice that ESPN viewers listened to while watching him call college basketball games for many years.

Now, we can all rejoice in Vitale’s triumph, and hope that we hear plenty more from him in the future.
