Browns Are Reportedly Traveling to Houston to Meet With Deshaun Watson

Looks like the Browns are still not all in on Baker Mayfield.

The QB of the future for Cleveland may just be out of state. Representatives from the team are traveling to Houston this week to meet with Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. The meeting with the Browns comes only one day after the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers both met with Watson.

Via From Pro Football Network:

“The Cleveland Browns are set to meet with Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson on Tuesday in Houston after being granted permission to talk with the three-time Pro Bowler. They will work to sell him on their vision for him as a potential trade acquisition once the NFL free agency period opens, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.

The Browns’ leadership team will attempt to convince Watson that he should waive the no-trade clause in his $156 million contract for them one day after he met with the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers, according to sources.”

If you thought the Browns really were just pretenders in the hunt for Deshaun Watson, well it doesn’t appear that way. Looking elsewhere for a QB when Baker is your starter is akin to cheating on him. Mayfield has beccome one of the most disrespected QB’s in the league.

Could this just be the Browns trying to motivate Baker?

If so it’s a bold strategy.
