John Madden Talking About Concussions Video Going Viral

Last night the sports world lost a legendary man. The iconic football coach and color commentator John Madden passed away at the age of 85.

Madden was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders, winning a Super Bowl with the historic franchise.

The Raiders released a touching statement on Madden’s legacy.

“The Raiders Family is deeply saddened by the passing of the legendary John Madden,” their statement read. “Few individuals meant as much to the growth and popularity of professional football as Coach Madden, whose impact on the game both on and off the field was immeasurable.”

Some others decided to bash Madden, claiming he glamorized hard hits which uliatemly lead to more concussions.

However John Madden made it clear that concussions should be taken very serious.

“I think if a guy has had a concussion or has a concussion, he shouldn’t play anymore,” Madden said. “I don’t agree with that. We always talk about boxing and boxing being archaic. If a boxer gets knocked out, he can’t fight for another month. Sometimes in football, we say ‘A guy has a slight concussion, he’ll be back in.’ I don’t know if I’ll ever agree with that.”

Well there you have it, John cared about player’s safety as much as anyone.

RIP legend.
