The NBA is currently trying to promote the NBA Finals, but unfortunately all anyone wants to talk about is the Rachel Nichols versus Maria Taylor controversy. On Tuesday night, NBA commissioner Adam Silver spoke about the situation brewing at ESPN. Silver said the leaked audio was “disheartening,” saying that it was unfortunate to see two high-profile women in the industry “pitted against each other.”
“I would have thought that in the past year, maybe through some incredibly difficult conversations, that ESPN would have found a way to be able to work through it,” Silver said, according to New York Times reporter Kevin Draper. “Obviously not.”
Silver went on to praise both Nichols and Taylor and said “careers shouldn’t be erased by a single comment.”
“They are incredibly devoted to the NBA. They are devoted to what they do, and it is just an unfortunate situation, especially at this moment in time,” Silver said. “When we like all the focus to be on the players on the floor.”

The Jimmy Butler rumors really took this story to the next level.
It should be pretty interesting to hear what Rachel Nichols has to say when she returns to The Jump today.
