WNBA Players Throw Out Fighting Words: ‘Girl Shut TF Up’

Players are often even competitive off the court. Mercury star Skylar Diggins-Smith got into a verbal altercation Monday with Liberty guard Jazmine Jones. The beef began after Jones called out Bleacher Report for sharing a highlight of Diggins-Smith, even though the Mercury lost Sunday’s game to the Liberty.

Diggins-Smith then took a shot at the Liberty, saying the team only promotes one person.

Liberty rookie forward Michaela Onyenwere also got involved, telling Diggins-Smith to “relax.”

After the players exchanged Twitter barbs, the team Twitter accounts took their turn with the Liberty first posting a photo of Jones and the Mercury returning in kind.

The Mercury then took the feud a few steps further, changing their Twitter name to “Skylar Diggins-Smith Stan Account.”
